The island of Madagascar can be found in the western part of the Indian Ocean. The island is located off the coast of Africa and is separated from the continent by the Mozambique Channel. A plateau, also known as a high and level land, can be found in the middle of Madagascar. In certain locations, the plateau is broken up by mountain ranges.
